Activities
We're doing a Mystery Quilt. Everyone is encourage to participate. Members are challenged to have their fabric purchased and cut by the January meeting to be entered in a drawing for a prize. For the fabric requirements and cutting instructions, click Mystery Quilt in the left hand menu.
Mary Aubuchon is designing an applique Block of the Month. Patterns are available at the meetings.
The annual Quilt Challenge is being revised for 2012. Rather than entering your quilt in type of quilt category (pieced, applique, combination), you'll enter your quilt in Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced categories. Quilts are displayed, and voted on by members, at the Summer Picnic. Quilts with the most votes win their category, and a prize. To participate you need to purchase a packet form Debby for $5.00. The packet includes the instructions and a piece of fabric. Packets go on sale at the February meeting.
The Color Boxes are making their way around the members who signed up to participate. There's still room if you'd like to join the fun. Contact LouAnn to get on the list.
Quilting Tips:
When making templates, use a medium sand paper to cut out the template patterns. This does not slip around or move while cutting on the material.
When basting your quilt, leave thread attached to spool after threading your needle, thus eliminating all that cutting and threading.
